Stretch time

Sometimes I wish a second could last more than just a second. I know, it wouldn't be a second anymore...but it would, just longer. You look at the clock with dreary eyes stuck together with that crusty "sleep": 6:55. You know that alarm is going to go off in like 5 minutes and you know, Mr/Ms Adult, you need to get up at 7am. This is when I wish that 5 minutes was a little longer than 5 minutes, but still 5 minutes so I can get up on time.

Then I wish the night would last forever, knowing that with every breath I take it's getting closer to morning. I know that she wouldn't be around in the morning, or I have to face a day full of people I don't look forward to seeing but I know I must. And that exam I studied for...really I did...but not like for real for real. If that 3am hour could last a little longer. An hour would still be an hour, but a little longer...just a little.

And you know the rent is due at the beginning of the month, and you can pay it in full if that last week just had a couple of more days in it so you can work a little more overtime, or get that money you lent you cousin back. A couple of more days in the week wouldn't hurt...would it?

I want to extend the weekend, so Monday doesn't come as quick as it always does. Still two days, but two longer days.

I had a dream last night that 8 seconds lasted longer in some parts of the world than in others. I wondered what part of the world I was in: the short 8 seconds or the long 8 seconds.
